Experience

Dynamics Business Central is what I Do.

Not a big consulting firm.    Simply a passion and some experience with Dynamics Business Central and NAV.  So… Business Central (and NAV) is what I Do.

“Experience?”  –  you say

Having been on both sides of several implementations — as both a client and Business Partner — one can’t help but gain some perspective,  and a solid understanding of the joys and pains that both experience.

Face it, both sides have a business to run.  There are significant monetary values at stake.   It can, and usually does, become personal.   Not that it’s inherently a bad thing.  It can be, and should be,  a good thing… a very good thing.    However, almost like any good marriage, sometimes the relationship becomes strained and frustrations begin to fester.   There can be finger pointing, blame casting, even shouting matches.  The disillusionment  happens because both sides bring somewhat unrealistic expectations into the relationship.

Clients expect all of their needs to be met – a smooth transition, on time, on budget, and with complete accuracy… and all their future wants, wishes, and dreams will come true.  After all, isn’t that what was promised during the Sales and Demonstration phase.. and isn’t that why they agreed to invest so heavily of their time and money?

Business Partners expect to earn a nice profit.  It’s really no secret.  That’s why they are in the business in the first place.  In the short term, they get paid on the sale, implementation, customization,  consultation,  and for managing the project.  In the long term they expect to build a long list of satisfied clients, become recognized as leaders within the industry, retain their talent, grow the business, … and take over the world.

The reality is that sometimes these expectations are absolutely unrealistic. But there can be a middle ground that both can live with.  Good project management encompasses a vast array of skills, abilities, and tools that help keep things moving along with clear visibility.  Communication is the key.

If your current relationship has become a bit strained and you are struggling to satisfy or be satisfied, or you are suffering from a bit of disillusionment, perhaps it’s time to take a step back and seek some help or guidance from an independent consultant.
